5 things to do during a lockdown

Lots of countries are announcing new lockdowns and it's tough. In Belgium, we have two lockdowns behind us, but social contact is still at an absolute minimum. Bars and restaurants are closed and meeting others is not possible right now. It can get quite lonely if you can't see your family and friends, especially around Christmas. Just so you know, if you would ever feel lonely and want to chat, send me a message on Instagram and I'll be happy to keep you company. For now, here are 5 things you can do during a lockdown.

1) Go for a walk

This might seem obvious, but if you work from home or have all your lessons online (like me), you could forget the importance of some fresh air. You can walk alone and listen to a good podcast or you can take a family member or friend with you. Try to go for a walk every day, even if it's only 15 minutes. This can really improve your mood, motivation and health. You can do it!

2) Pick up a new hobby

It could be playing an instrument, one that you started with when you were little or a completely new one. You're never too old to learn something new. Maybe you're more into crafts like knitting, cooking, drawing, writing... If you need an activity to clear your head, you could start reading, running or yoga. For the travellers who miss exploring, go outside and look for new places in your own city! Or maybe start a blog, like I did. Send me a link and I'll be happy to read it.

3) Organise

Organise your wardrobe and give things you don't wear anymore to charity. Organise your kitchen cupboards and check the expiration dates. Organise your desk, this will make you feel more motivated. Organise your pictures and print some to give your house or dorm a personal touch. Look through old travel photos and take a walk down memory lane. Organise your thoughts in a diary or make a bucketlist.

4) Online get-together

Invite your friends to an online get-together. Play some games and catch up on gossip. Make it a weekly thing to stay in touch with eachother. I know it's not the same as meeting in real life, but it's a good alternative for now. Maybe even try to reconnect with friends you haven't spoken to in a long time. I promise they'll be happy to hear from you!

5) Start planning 2021

Where do you want to travel to next year? Do you want to visit a new place or go back to a country where you made lots of nice memories? Start writing down some new year's resolutions. If they are written down, you will more likely stick to them. Remember to be tough: there will be bad days, but if you stay positive and patient, you can choose not to fail.

Wishing you happy holidays!

Thanks for reading and I hope I gave you the motivation you needed to make today a productive day!

Travelling in 2021

First of all, happy new year! I hope you all have a magnificent 2021 in which you can do what makes you happy. As you all know, last year wasn't an easy year. Travelling was everything but evident. The last time I was on a plane was in February 2020, just after my exams. I went on a citytrip to Dublin a month before the crisis started. That is almost a year ago now and I would give anything to go on an airplane again. In the air above Ireland When we heard the news about the lockdown, there still was some hope that we would be able to go on our annual trip in the Easter holiday. Sadly, that didn't work out. Because of my eternal optimism I hoped that the summer would be better, that we would be able to go to on our planned trip to the east coast of America. If you've read my first blogposts, you know that I didn't go to the USA.  Instead I went to France, Spain and Andorra. You should really read the blogposts ;)  Just going to leave the first part here for you if you...
